Volvo S60 Polestar Concept pumps out 508-hp, tickles our fancy
Polestar, the official performance partner of Volvo, has just released its version of the Volvo S60. Christian Dahl, CEO and founder of Polestar, says, “It’s a car developed with our own preferences in mind which, we from experience know, are shared by a group of active drivers.”
To better suit this audience, Polestar tunes the model’s T6 engine to put out 508-hp at 6500rpm and 424 lb-ft at 5500rpm, allowing for a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed that exceeds 186mph. In order to achieve this, Polestar modified the inlet manifold, air intake, cylinder head, combustion chambers, and added turbo and a stainless steel exhaust system.
The drivetrain and chassis were both upgraded, including modified control arms, engine mounts, a 30mm drop and a new set of 19-inch wheels wrapped in 265/30R19 tires.
The end result is what Robert Dahlgren, Volvo Polestar racing driver calls “a huge leap forward in terms of handling and performance. It is, by far, the most impressive street Volvo I’ve ever driven. But I must also say that the genuine Volvo feeling is still there.”
Specially crafted for a certain buyer, the model was presented at Gothenburg CityArena. While it is the only one for now, more may follow if the demand is there.
