Report: All first 800 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series coupes sold

If you were hoping to scoop up one of Mercedes-Benz’s AMG C-Class on steroids, the C63 AMG Black Series in coupe guise, you might be out of luck. A Dutch magazine has recently just reported that all 800 pieces of Mercedes-Benz’s baby tire roaster have been built, sold, and shipped around the world.

Originally, Mercedes-Benz only planned to produce 650 units. But because of high interest and demand, the Stuttgart brand produced 150 more. Though of course, demand in general for the C63 AMG Black Series coupe is high.

The reason why the brand has decided to keep production low is to not only maintain the value of the vehicle, but also because the Black Series coupe takes quite a bit longer to produce than a standard C-Class. Additionally, it’s to prevent any production delays that the longer assembly time may incur.

Refresher: Power for the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series comes from a 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine making 517-hp at 6,800 rpm with a maximum torque of 457 lb-ft at 500 rpm. The engine gets forged pistons, conrods and crankshaft, a new engine control unit and a 50 percent bigger oil cooler. Mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with four ESP control settings and can go throw the cogs in 100 milliseconds in the sportiest Sport Plus and Manual modes, the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series run from 0 to 60 mph comes in just 4.2 seconds.
