Video: Ford kicks off 2013 Escape assembly in Kentucky

Ford has just released a new video commemorating the beginning of production for the 2013 Ford Escape.

“Today marks a celebration of progress and transformation,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s president of The Americas. “Louisville Assembly Plant’s reinvention illustrates how Ford is going further, continuing to invest in American manufacturing and new jobs while delivering even more of the fuel-efficient vehicles that give customers true power of choice.”

The new 2013 Ford Escape is produced at Ford’s  plant in Louisville, Kentucky, where a separate line will also be utilized to supply the brand with its automatic transmissions.

Refresher: Power for the base 2013 Ford Escape S comes from a 2.5 liter inline 4-cylinder making 168-hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. Jumping up to the 2013 Ford Escape SE, which starts at $25,070, power comes from a 1.6 liter EcoBoost making 178-hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line $30,370 Ford Escape Titanium gets the 2.0 liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder as standard, giving it 240-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
