Report: Volkswagen’s Amarok pickup gets outfitted for military spec

Rheinmetall Defense has decided to outfit Volkswagen’s latest pickup, the Amarok, with their own military touch. Essentially, the European defense contractor said that they’ll be unveiling their concoction at this year’s Eurostatory defense exposition in Paris. Think of it as an exhibition convention for military contractors.

Options for the Amarok Light Multi-Purpose Vehicle included a reinforced suspension, the most advanced communication systems, an automated and motorized turret for fire arms, and much more. Military and paramilitary customers can opt for a range of engines and either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions.

Sounds like the Volkswagen Amarok is enough to potentially give the Toyota Hilux a run for its money.
