Report: Toyota to collaborate with other makers after success with GT86/Subaru BRZ

After several joint ventures proving to be successful, Toyota says it is likely to team up with other automakers again in the future.

So far, Toyota has produced the Pontic Vibe and Toyota Matrix models with General Motors, the Aygo, 107, C1 city car with PSA Peugeot-Citroen and most recently, the successful Toyota GT 86, Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ project.

Tetsuya Tada, chief of development of the GT 86, has recently said he would be willing to partner up again “if we can jointly produce something exceptional.” It sounds like he is not willing to settle for anything less then the enthusiast-friendly GT 86, FR-S and BRZ model’s great reviews.

Until Toyota finds its next partner, the automaker will continue on with the convertible version of its FR-S and GT 86 models, as well as the next facelift of the city cars with Peugeot-Citroen.
