Toyota Prius C doesn’t receive Consumer Reports recommendation

The Toyota Prius C is the brand’s cheapest hybrid vehicle and has been selling quite well. In March 2012, it was reported that the Toyota Prius C beat the Volt and Leaf‘s February 2012 total sales figure in just 3 days.

So how did fare with Consumer Reports magazine? Not so well. The publication said that the Prius C has failed to receive its recommendation rating due to a harsh and noisy ride.

“Its harsh ride, noisy engine and cabin, and slow acceleration make it feel more like an econobox than a sophisticated hybrid,” Consumer Reports said. “We can’t recommend the Prius C because it scores too low in our tests. We do expect it to have very good reliability.”

Consumer Reports also said that the Prius C offers the best fuel-economy of any car tested in its segment.

Oh, Consumer Reports.
