Report: Toyota Prius is now the world’s third best-selling model… kind of
The Toyota Prius is officially the world’s third best-selling car in the first quarter of 2012… well, almost. Actually, sales of the Prius more than doubled when Toyota extended the family to a four-model lineup meaning all the sales of the Prius C, Prius V, Prius plug-in hybrid and the ‘standard’ Prius all count under the sales of the ‘Prius’ name.
With first quarter sales coming in at 247,230 the Prius lineup trails behind the Toyota Corolla at 300,800 and the Ford Focus at 277,000.

The Toyota Prius lineup also gives the brand three of the top 10 models in the United States so far in 2012.
