Currently in the United States, the BMW 1-Series is offered as a coupe and convertible. While the current shape will stick around in the United States until 2014, the European market is enjoying a new redesigned 1-Series hatchback (along with the coupe and convertible we have here).
According to latest reports coming from UK, BMW is now planning to expand the 1-Series lineup with a sedan variant that will be pitched as successor to the E30-generation 3-series four-door.
It also seems like BMW is betting a lot on this new 1-Series sedan model as it will play a crucial role in helping the brand hit worldwide sales of two million units by 2020.
If produced, the 1-Series sedan is expected to be a big seller in North America and China.
All we know is, we’d love to see a 1-Series M sedan.
