Study: BMW tops Toyota as most valuable global automotive brand

In BrandZ’s Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands Study, BMW has overtaken Toyota as the world’s most valuable automotive brand.

“As one of the great brands in the world, BMW has been absolutely consistent in the long-term regarding what is meaningfully different about their brand, in highly competitive market places,” said Peter Walshe, Millward Brown global brand director. Walshe said that BMW has has been effectively able to communicate what sets its brand apart from others.

Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Audi also improved their brand values on the BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands list.

Toyota held the spot in the automotive category from 2006 through 2009.
