Maserati North America Announces Pricing for 2012 Maserati GranTurismo MC and GranTurismo Convertible Sport

July 26, 2011 – ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ – Maserati North America is pleased to announce
pricing on the two newest members of its line-up: the 2012 GranTurismo MC and the 2012
GranTurismo Convertible Sport.

In the United States the 2012 GranTurismo MC has a base MSRP of $139,900 and the 2012 GranTurismo Convertible Sport has a base MSRP of $142,800. In Canada the 2012 GranTurismo MC has a base MSRP of $147,500 and the 2012 GranTurismo Convertible Sport has a base MSRP of $149,800.

2012 Maserati GranTurismo MC
Created by the Maserati Corse racing team, the 2012 GranTurismo MC provides North American customers a limited production sports car with the hand-produced bodywork, increased power, intuitive handling and aerodynamic gains of the European GranTurismo MC Stradale, while presenting a car that maintains full four-seat practicality and everyday driving performance.

Powered by the latest development of the Maserati 4.7-liter all-alloy V8, this higher-output engine delivers 444 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 376 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. The GranTurismo MC comes standard with an MC Shift-controlled ZF 6-speed Automatic transmission which enables the car to hold a gear to red-line, match revs upon downshift and overall increase shift speeds when called upon. With a top speed of 185 mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.8 seconds, the GranTurismo MC is the fastest production Maserati vehicle available in North America.

Maserati has made the engine more responsive, more powerful and more efficient, thanks to a
comprehensive “friction reduction program” including Diamond-Like-Coating of high friction parts inside the valve train. The new lighter exhaust system also plays a part in helping the GranTurismo MC to achieve its seemingly conflicting goals of a six percent improvement in fuel economy and even-better responsiveness. Like the GranTurismo MC Trofeo race car and European MC Stradale, the exhaust path is shortened with two large diameter outlets, connected to a bypass valve that unlocks and intensifies the engine note, exiting through the center of the rear bumper.

The GranTurismo MC is equipped with a race-bred aerodynamic package that generates
increased aerodynamic down force by up to 50% at high speeds without increasing the drag and enabling the 185 mph top speed. The GranTurismo MC also comes standard with a single-rate suspension system that precisely controls damping and improves lateral grip.

2012 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport
In 2010, Maserati introduced the first four-seat convertible in the company’s 97 year history: the GranTurismo Convertible, an immensely solid and spacious machine – with 4.7 liters of V-8 power and a high level of equipment. Given intense customer interest in an even more sport-oriented version – Maserati is proud to present the GranTurismo Convertible Sport.

The new Convertible Sport is equipped with the top performance systems available including the latest Maserati sport exhaust system, as found on the GranTurismo S model and Quattroporte Sport GTS, producing a free-flowing sport sound that stirs the soul. Also as found on the GranTurismo S model – the Convertible Sport will be delivered with a new front aerodynamic fascia, side skirts and dark look trim and headlamps, as well as body-colored door handles.

The performance and driving dynamics of the Convertible Sport are enhanced through major upgrades to everything that touches the driver. From the Sport Skyhook adaptive suspension to the quick shifting and rev-matched downshifting via the 6 speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission, the GranTurismo Convertible Sport enables the driving enthusiast to explore their passion while enabling three passengers to enjoy the open-air excitement.
