At the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, Audi is showing its first luxury-class e-tron concept car based on the new Audi A6 L. Known as the Audi A6 L e-tron Concept, the study is a plug-in hybrid that has a pure electric driving range of 50 miles. Audi says the study was specifically designed to fulfill Chinese needs.
“The Audi A6 L e-tron concept is an important step towards future electric mobility in China for Audi,” Audi said in a statement. “With its first e-tron technology study in the luxury class, the company is showing what a locally produced New Energy Vehicle from Audi might look like.”
The Audi A6 L e-tron Concept features a parallel hybrid setup with a 2.0 liter TFSI engine putting out 211-hp and an electric motor making 95-hp. While there is all-electric driving for 50 miles at speeds of up to 37 mph, the hybrid control module chooses the best suited operating mode with the focus on driving range.
The Audi A6 L e-trong Concept sits on a 9.88 feet wheelbase and measures 16.47 feet long, 6.14 feet wide and stands 4.79 feet tall.
Audi hasn’t confirmed when the A6 e-tron will hit markets, but the we already know that the A3 e-tron will be the first to hit markets next year.
