Video: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 prototype caught on the road

The next Corvette (C7) might not be ready for the public until the first half of 2013, but that hasn’t stopped some enterprising souls from snagging some pre-production footage. As viewers, we might just be looking out the window at a heavily camouflaged car through a smartphone, but some things are revealed. Amongst the many renderings we’ve seen, at least from the front end, the car in the video looks like it could match this artist’s rendering pretty well in fact.

Around the back, the tailpipes are closer together than C6 and it would appear that the traditional powertrain remains the same (V8 in the front and power out the back). There’s been much talk of a turbocharged V6, and an engine in the middle, but we see no evidence to support that claim as of yet. Thanks to direct injection and other tech, the fuel economy police aren’t likely to swoop down on the classic American sports car anytime soon.
