Kozleski says that Ford expects the base S trim, which starts at $22,470, to account for only 10 percent of sales for the crossover. Half of the orders are expected to come from higher trim levels including the SEL and the Titanium, which start at $27,870 and $30,370 respectively.
Kozleski also said that most buyers are expected to choose one of EcoBoost engines over the standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine.
Refresher: Power for the base 2013 Ford Escape S comes from a 2.5 liter inline 4-cylinder making 168-hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. Jumping up to the 2013 Ford Escape SE, which starts at $25,070, power comes from a 1.6 liter EcoBoost making 178-hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line $30,370 Ford Escape Titanium gets the 2.0 liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder as standard, giving it 240-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
