2013 Lexus GS awarded 2012 Top Safety Pick by IIHS

The 2013 Lexus GS 350 has received that 2012 Top Safety Pick Award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The new GS received a rating of good in front, side, rollover, and rear tests and comes with standard electronic stability control.

When taking into consideration Restraints/dummy kinematics – dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy’s head hit the roof rail. Measuring injury, the IIHS said that the dummy indicated a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of high severity.

Refresher: Power for the 2013 Lexus GS 350 comes from a 3.5 liter V6 engine making 306-hp at 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 277 lb-ft at 4,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential-shift transmission allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 142 mph. 30 to 50 mph takes just 3 seconds. The Lexus GS also comes with the Lexus Drive Mode selector allowing for four driving modes including ECO, Normal, Sport S and available Sport S+. Prices start at $46,900.
