Volkswagen Phaeton enjoying strong sales in China, successor coming 2015

We last heard that the next-generations Volkswagen Phaeton will debut sometime in 2015. Strong sales of the premium V-dub sedan in China have created much optimism inside the company to produce the successor.

The previous Volkswagen Phaeton missed previous sales targeting, which even led to the sedan being pulled out of the U.S. market in 2006. However the Phaeton has enjoyed a 50 percent increase in deliveries in China in the past year.

The next-generation Phaeton sedan is due in 2015 and will ride on the same MLP (modular longitudinal platform) as the Audi A8.

Smaller and more fuel-efficeint powertrains will be a part of the game, along with a hybrid variant – but nothing is official as of yet.
