2012 New York: Jaguar confirms C-X16 will enter production as the F-Type

Jaguar has been making quite the hype with their C-X16 Concept, the car that they’ve been pitching as a ‘baby XK.’ But in lieu of the 2012 New York International Auto Show, Jaguar’s Global Brand Director, Adrian Hallmark, has just confirmed that the drop-dead gorgeous C-X16 will be hitting your local showrooms within the next several years.

“We showed the C-X16 concept in September 2011, and the reaction to it has been so positive that we’ve accelerated our development of an all-new Jaguar sports car,” Hallmark announced at the Jaguar press conference. “That car will be called the F-TYPE, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year. The core appeal of Jaguar’s cars is their sporting heart, and that heart will beat stronger than ever before in the F-TYPE. Its development is a vivid representation of the confidence and ambition of the Jaguar brand, and the desire amongst our engineers and design team to produce a world-leader in a market segment that we have been absent from for too long. But no longer – the F-TYPE is coming.”

So far, Hallmark also added that the newly named “F-Type will feature an all-aluminum construction to help keep weight down.” Additionally, a series of gasoline engines will be fitted to the F-Type, though precise details were withheld.

Either way, it will only be a matter of time until this pretty Jaguar causes accidents from turning so many heads.
