OnStar’s first a la carte service has been launched called Family Link, that can add two new features to any of a subscriber’s existing packages.
Vehicle Locate is one of the new services that provides a map view of the vehicle’s location at any time to subscribers. The other is Vehicle Location Alert, which provides the location of a subscriber’s vehicle with email or text message notifications, which can be adjusted to time, day and frequency preferences.
The service is available for an additional $3.99 per month, and will be launched by invite to select OnStar subscribers by invite, as part of a phased launch that starts next month, and will continue throughout the year.
“For more than 16 years, OnStar has developed and enhanced our service by listening to our customers,” said OnStar Vice President of Subscriber Services Joanne Finnorn. “They tell us how they use technology and what they want it to do. Last year, we had more than 4,500 subscribers test the Family Link service and they told us it provides them peace of mind by staying connected to their family when they’re on the road.”
