Mazda Takeri Concept to make North American debut in New York next week

Sorry guys, the next-generation Mazda6 won’t be coming to the 2012 New York Auto Show next week. However, Mazda will hold the North American debut of its Takeri Concept in the Big Apple next week. The Mazda Takeri Concept is supposed to be our closest hint as to what the next-generation Mazda6 will look like.

“TAKERI is the third concept vehicle to feature the brand’s KODO (‘Soul of Motion’) design theme and the second to fully embrace SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY,” Mazda said in a statement. “TAKERI is the first Mazda concept vehicle to feature a SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter clean diesel engine as well as other fuel-saving technologies such as i-stop, a stop-start system, and i-ELOOP, a regenerative braking system.”

Mazda says all those technologies help the Takeri Concept improve fuel economy by as much as 10 percent.

Next week, we’ll bring you closer look at the Takeri Concept from the 2012 New York Auto Show floor.
