U.S. built Ford Transit van to get 3.5 liter EcoBoost and clean diesel option

Ford Transit EcoBoost

When the Ford Transit commercial van comes to the market next year, a new lineup of fuel-efficient engines and alternative fuel technologies will be made available for fleet customers. The Ford Transit commercial van will offer a new clean diesel and EcoBoost V6 engine will help offer at least a 25 percent gain in fuel-economy when compared to the E-Series vans.

“With fleet operators facing skyrocketing fuel prices and constant pressure to reduce costs, Ford continues to expand its range,” said Kevin Koswick, director, North American Fleet, Lease and Remarketing Operations for Ford. “By offering multiple options to help solve these challenges, Ford is giving fleet customers true power of choice in finding solutions that best meet their specific needs.”

The diesel engine option will be made available when the new Ford Transit cargo and passenger vans enter production in Kansas City in 2013.

If you’re an E-Series body style fan, don’t worry, Ford says that certain E-Series body styles will continue to be available through most of the decade in North America.
