Report Chrysler, Pure Detroit agree to settle ‘Imported from Detroit’ suit

Imported From Detroit

After a year, Chrysler Group LLC and Pure Detroit have agreed to attempt to settle a lawsuit with mediation on March 27th. The clothing company Pure Detroit is being sued over the use of the slogan “Imported from Detroit”.

Chrysler sells merchandise that uses the “Imported from Detroit” phrase in its ifdstore.com website, which, as Pure Detroit made a point of stating, is not made in Detroit. The phrase was first used by the automaker during a Super Bowl commercial.

Pure Detroit is also brining up false advertising, stating that the Chrysler 200, 300 and the Town & Country that the automaker advertises as “Imported from Detroit” are built at other locations.

Both parties agreed to the third party mediation, and were given a date of April 3 by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Hiuchaniuk to provide a resolution.
