Report: VW to kick off 2013 Porsche Boxster production this fall

Valet Automotive used to be Porsche’s partner for overflow production, but output of the Stuttgart sports cars was phased out there last year. Now Volkswagen’s Osnabrueck, Germany, car plant will kick-off volume production of the 2013 Porsche Boxster this fall.

In 2009, Volkswagen took over the plant from bankrupt assembler and launched production of the new Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet there in early 2011.

Volkswagen will now produce the new Boxster for Porsche to handle overflow production from the company’s main plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany.

The Osnabrueck has a total production capacity of 100,000 vehicles a year.
