Nurburgring inspired track may be built in Las Vegas

Nurburgring

In efforts to add to Las Vegas’ worldly attractions, Speedway Motorsports CEO Bruton Smith has the brilliant idea of replicating the famed Nurburgring.

The location would be about 10 miles out from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and since there is plenty of desert surrounding the vibrant city, finding the 8,000 acres of space the project would require certainly won’t be an issue.

Smith has said he was discussing the duplication with “some Germans” as well as the Nevada Bureau of Land Management and the Governor. His intentions for the track are for testing and manufacturer and individual use.

I’ve yet to see a downside to this project, although there may be one I’m missing. Automakers, the privileged individuals that would get to experience it, and the city of Las Vegas would all benefit from its creation. Hopefully this won’t be just a tease of an idea.
