2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG to debut at 2012 New York Auto Show

At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz showed off the new 2013 SL63 AMG. Come next month at the 2012 New York Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz will introduce the new and more powerful SL65 AMG.

The previous Mercedes-Benz SL65 AM was powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine making 604-hp. We’re sure if that engine will be carried over but that seems to be the most likely scenario. If that’s the case, the engine will be mated with the new AMG Speed shift MCT 7-speed sports transmission.

Either way, we’ll have more details for you from the 2012 New York Auto Show next month. Stay tuned.

Refresher: Power for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG comes from a twin-turbo 5.5 liter direct-injected V8 engine making 530-hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The output is directed to the rear whees through an AMG Speed shift MCT 7-speed sports transmission, allowing the 2013 SL63 AMG to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. The optional AMG Performance Package increases output to 557-hp and 664 lb-ft of torque – dropping the 0 to 60 mph down by 0.1 second and top speed jumps to 186 mph.
