Tata Motors made some noise today at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show with its new Megapixel Concept. Being a good indication as to what the next-generation Tata Nano will look like, the Tata Megapixel is a new four-seater city car that will be sold on a global level.
The range-extended electric Tata Megapixel is powered by 369 lb-feet of torque, with a 13kW lithium-ion battery pack providing the ‘fuel.’ The motor woks together with a 325cc single-cylinder gasoline engine that refill the batteries for trips longer than 54 EV only miles. Total the Tata Megapixel has a range of over 560 miles.
“The Tata Megapixel, developed by our design centres in India, the UK and Italy, is our idea of a city car for discerning motorists in any megacity of the world,” said Mr. Prakash M. Telang, Managing Director – India Operations, Tata Motors, said.”It is a result of the progress we have made on the Tata Pixel, displayed last year, and also denotes the company’s future design direction.”
No word on when the Tata Megapixel will enter production.
