2012 Geneva: Italdesign Giugiaro gives us the Brivido

No really – this piece of new does give us the Brivido – that’s the name of Italdesign Giugiaro’s new concept, which means ‘Thrill in Italian. The Italdesign Giugiaro Brivido is a functional, hybrid, four-seat prototype developed on a mechanics of the Volkswagen Group, which bought the design firm last year.

Italdesign Giugiaro says that the Brivido offers supercar performance while providing respect for the environment. The company says that a on-road prototype is ready and should begin testing soon.

Power comes from a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 from V-dub making 360-hp. The engine is couple with an 8-speed transmission and an electric-motor. 0 to 60 mph comes in 5.8 seconds while giving out only 154 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide. Top speed can go up to 171-hp.

So will the Brivido be produced?  According to Giorgetto Giugiaro: “I would not say the Brivido is a dream car-after all, this is not an object which is destined to remain an unachievable dream. My intention has always been to design something which is close to industrial reality and can easily be released into the market.”

I would love to see this massive sports sedan on the road.
