2012 Geneva: Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet GTI makes public debut

Along with the endless lineup of V-dub Up models, Volkswagen has unveiled the new 2013 Golf Cabriolet GTI.

Power comes from the same 2.0 liter turbocharged, direct-injected 4-cylinder engine from the GTI hatchback. It makes a total of 207-hp with a maximum torque of 207 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, 0 to 62 mph for the Golf GTI Cabriolet comes in 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 147 mph (2 mph lower than the hatchback).

We saw the top go up and down at the show, which takes about 19 and 9.5 seconds respectively.

Of course, we won’t see the top go up and down in the United States, because V-Dub has no plans to offer the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet GTI on our side of the world.
