2012 Geneva: Infiniti EMERG-E Concept electrifies Genève

Finally being revealed in all its beauty today at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show is the Infiniti EMERG- E Concept. Infiniti says that the EMERG-E Concept is a ‘advanced, mid-ship sports car that provides an exciting glimpse into Infiniti’s future.’

While we have no idea when the Infiniti EMERG-E will be produced – we do know that it will and that Infiniti has a very strong intention to provide its markets with a halo model that falls in the ‘sustainable high-performance’ segment.

“It is elegant yet dynamic, and has graceful power,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura. “‘Mid-ship cars are usually less refined, but the body of INFINITI EMERG-E is like silk wrapping over the wheels.”

The Infiniti EMERG-E Concept is a 402-hp mid-engine, twin motor, electric motors sports car that can run from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds and from 0 to 130 mph in 30 seconds. It is capable of offering zero emission urban driving for over 30 miles. The setup consist of two electric-motors, a lithium-ion battery pack, four inventors, a 3-cylinder range-extending combustion engine and a gasoline tank.

Of course there is huge significant behind Infiniti unveiling the EMERG-E Concept in Europe, since it’s still trying to build its brand image in the region and expecting BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz fans to look their way.
