2013 Bentley Continental GTC V8 drops its top before Geneva debut

At the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January, Bentley’s big news consisted of the new 2013 Bentley Continental GT V8. At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show tomorrow, the automaker will be holding the public debut of the drop-top version of the Continental GT V8 – the 2013 Bentley Continental GTC V8.

What’s different? Besides the fact that it’s a convertible – nothing really.

Power for the 2013 Bentley Continental GTC V8 comes from the same 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 as the coupe. The engine is good for producing 500-hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 487 lb-ft at 1,700 rpm. Mated to an 8-speed automatic and an all-wheel-drive architecture, the 2013 Continental GTC V8 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds (coupe does it in 4.6) with a top speed of 187 mph (coupe has top speed of 188 mph).

That’s really it – wait. Besides the fact that it has a curb weight of a whopping 5,445 pounds – the coupe weighs 5,060 pounds.
