Video: Justin Bieber gets Fisker Karma for his 18th birthday on Ellen

Alright, I’m not really sure the last time we here at egmCarTech talked about Justin Bieber, but this piece of news deserves some attention. The 18-year-old teenage sensation just celebrated his birthday and his manager and Usher decided to get him a very nice birthday present that was given to him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“You work really really hard,” his manager, Scooter Braun said on the show. “I always yell at you, ‘Don’t get anything flashy You know, we’re not about that. Be humble, be humble.’ And I kind of broke my own rule.”

Following that statement, Justin was presented with the Fisker Karma.

“We wanted to make sure, since you love cars, that when you’re on the road you are always environmentally friendly,” Burn said. “And we decided to get you a car that would make you stand out … I think you know where I’m going, and you’re kind of freaking out right now. That’s a Fiskar Karma.”

For the record, in the video Bieber asks if the Karma is fully electric, to which his manager replies ‘yes’ – but the Karma is not fully-electric and is a range-extended plug-in hybrid.

Refresher: Power for the Fisker Karmacomes from Fisker’s Q-DRIVE system, which is made up of two 201-hp electric-motors that are powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. That allows the 2010 Karma to travel up to 50 miles without the use of any gasoline. A generator attached to a 260-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec direct injection engine provides an extended range of up to 300 miles. 0 to 60 mph comes in 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 125 mph. The Karma’s battery can be recharged in less than 6 hours using the same 240v household current.
