Report: New Mercedes-Benz SLC sports car to lead brand’s expansion
After reviewing its competitor’s projected growth figures, Dieter Zetsche of Mercedes-Benz has decided on a plan that will launch 22 significantly modified current models, and 10 brand-new models for 2015.
The C,E, and S-classes will remain in the line up with heavy modifications and Maybach replacement models are coming out by 2014.
Going up against the Porsche 911 is the front-engined SLC AMG, which is expected to be released in 2014. The model will be placed amongst other mid-sized models in the line-up, such as the next generation C-class, which will be getting both coupe and open-top variants for 2014, as well as a new SLK model.
Also joining the line up are the B-Class MPV and the upcoming five-door A-class, along with a new CLC sedan, five door CLC Shooting Brake, and a smaller SUV, possibly a GLC.
Each of the new models will be built on Mercedes-Benz’s latest Modular Front Architecture platform.
