Report: Hyundai might not do pickups, but Kia on the other hand may

Kia Mojave Concept

Earlier this month, it was reported that Hyundai’s CEO John Krafcik has no interest in offering pickups or any other type of big trucks for the brand. However, having a Kia pickup truck might be a different story.

“Our brand resonates best with families, but that’s where we have the lowest market penetration. There’s tremendous upside for us in crossovers. … More seven-passenger crossover capacity is No. 1 on our priority list for the U.S,” Krafcik said.

Of course, that makes since since Hyundai has done amazing selling mainstream sedan like the Sonata, Elantra and the Genesis.

Kia on the other hand has always played with the idea of a pickup. Kia’s Mojove Concept has been around for more then ten years but the company never got around to doing a production version. What does Kia have up its sleeve now? Well, besides the Soul’ster Concept, we’ll just have to wait and see.
