A Special Edition 2012 Mazda MX-5, based on the Grand Touring edition, is set to be released by Mazda North American Operations at this year’s Chicago Auto Show.

One of the outstanding visual features of the model is that it comes with a Power Retractable Hard Top coated in black paint, regardless of body color. This is a first for paint schemes in the U.S. Two new body-paint colors are also being released for the limited-edition, along with a set of gunmetal alloy wheels sized at 17-inches, black accents on the exterior and interior, and black heated leather seats.

Both six-speed Sport automatic with paddle shifters, and six-speed manual with short-throw shifter transmissions are available. Standard features for the Special Edition MX-5 include the Premium and Suspension packages, which come with Bilstein shocks, a sport-tuned suspension, Bluetooth, and Sirus Radio.
