2013 BMW M5 to get 6-speed manual in the United States

At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new RS5 may have come out, but for some, that is a non issue: the lack of a manual in the BMW M5 though may be a bigger one.

BMW have confirmed that the 2013 M5 will be offered with a six speed manual as a no cost option over the seven speed automated manual. BMW says that they are comfortable that US customers will enjoy the manual transmission as it was popular in the last-gen (E60) M5.

The 2013 BMW M5 will arrive at U.S. dealers in late summer 2012. Pricing, options and specifications will be released closer to the on-sale date.

It’s not the car it once was…the E28 weighed only 3200 lbs, the F10 weighs almost 4300.
