Joining the new 2013 Ford Fusion lineup this year will be a plug-in hybrid version of the sedan. Known as the 2013 Ford Fusion Energi, the plug-in hybrid version aims to be the most fuel-efficient midsize sedan in the world.

When it goes on sale this fall, Ford says that the Fusion Energi is projected to deliver more than 100 MPGe, a mile per gallon equivalency metric for electrified vehicles. That is is 8 MPGe more than the Chevy Volt and 13 MPGe more than the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid model.
