2012 Detroit: Audi Q3 Vail Concept revealed, coming to U.S. in 2013

At the 2012 Detroit Auto Show today, Audi’s most significant debut was the new Q3 Vail Concept – the first time any version of the Q3 has made it to the United States.

“The Audi Q3 Vail represents a new, potential variation on the SUV concept,” Audi said in a statement. “The themed vehicle has been designed for young fans of winter sports who love skiing or snowboarding. The Audi Q3 Vail is a sporty and robust compact SUV offering many practical attributes, an elegant appearance and individual design highlights.”

Interestingly enough, the Audi Q3 Vail Concept is powered by a 2.5 liter 5-cylinder TFSI making 314-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 7-speed S tronic, the Audi Q3 Vail Concept runs from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 162 mph.

So does this mean the Q3 is coming to the United States? Indeed it does. Audi will bring the Q3 to the U.S. in late 2013 with hopes of selling between 8,000 to 10,000 units. Now all we need is the A1 and we’re happy.
