Subaru BRZ to compete in the 2012 Super GT Championship in Japan

At the 2011 LA Auto Show later this week, we will see the Subaru BRZ Concept, the company’s version of the Toyota FT-86, in full detail.

While we wait on further details, Subaru is announcing on its website that the production BRZ will represent the company at the 2012 Super GT Championship in Japan. The model will compete in the GT300 Class and will replace the STI Legacy B4.

Power for the production road-going Subaru BRZ will come from 2.0 liter naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder boxer engine that has been designed with a square bore and stroke of 86 x 86 mm. It should produce somewhere close to 200-hp.
