Report: Dodge Viper will get 8.7L V10 for next generation model

After numerous spottings, Dodge is definitely back at cracking out successor to the Dodge Viper. However, little detail has been spared for Mopar’s flagship. Now though, some reports have come out hinting at what the next Viper’s engine will be.

Word has come from Mr. SRT himself, Ralph Gilles, that the next Viper will retain a V10 like all of the previous models. But that’s not all. Gilles reportedly added that the V10 will also retain the last model’s massive 8.7L displacement, which in old-school muscle car lingo, equates to 531 cubic inches of American tire-shredding balls-out craziness.

However, not much else has been said. As we get closer to the Viper’s expected 2012 debut at the Detroit Auto Show next year, we should see more information come our way. Either way, we can hardly wait.
