2012 Mercedes-Benz M Class

Mercedes-Benz is planning to produce a fifth model at its Vance, Alabama plant and will be investing $350 million to make the move. Production of the new model will start in 2015 and will create an additional 400 jobs.

While no details were provided on the model, sources say that the fifth model will be a coupe-like version of the M-Class SUV. The model will be called the MLC and will keep against the BMW X6.

Daimler AG CEO Dieter Zetsche said in a statement that the new model will be one of 10 vehicles Mercedes will introdce over the next 4 years.

The production of the MLC is part of an investment worth more than $2 billion in the company’s Alabama plant.
