Apparently, Chevrolet executives are stuck thinking about whether or not the brand needs an other model. Under consideration is a new compact crossover based on the Chevrolet Sonic platform.

Executives are debating whether the brand, which already sells the Equinox and the Traverse, needs another crossover in its lineup – specifically a model based on GM’s new subcompact platform. If approved, the new crossover would be positioned below the Equinox.

Insiders say that Buick will also share the platform, which will also be a small crossover. The Buick version of the crossover is expected to enter production sometime next year.

Whatever executives are GM are thinking, we’ll find out more details eventually.
