Daimler AG has reportedly fired Ernst Lieb, the head of Mercedes-Benz USA. His termination takes effect immediately and was given without reason. Lieb had been the head of Mercedes-Benz USA for five years.
Until further notice, Lieb will be succeeded by Herbert Werner, the Mercedes-Benz USA CFO and vice president for finance and IT.
Prior to taking over the U.S. division of Mercedes, Lieb was head of DaimlerChrysler Australia/Pacific and served as CEO of Mercedes Canada.
Mercedes-Benz is currently battling its German rivals for the top-selling luxury brand title in the region.
So far this year, Mercedes-Benz sales are up 7 percent to 170,058 units. That figure is behind BMW’s 177,679 units.
