Whether or not that Audi R4 will enter production, we’ve seen the brand’s Spyder concept give us hope at almost ever major auto show for the past year and a half.
The latest iteration of the concept, which have carried e-tron badges, was the Audi e-tron Spyder, which made its debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.

While Audi still hasn’t officially confirmed the production of the R4 or even the compact e-tron models, the company today released a beautiful video of the e-tron Spyder driving through Malibu, California.

Refresher: The Audi e-tron Spyder is powered by two electric motors at the front axel with a total output of 88-hp and peak torque of 260 lb-ft. They are mated to a 3.0 TDI twin-turbo V6 diesel engine that produces 300-hp and an additional 479 lb-ft of torque. Weighing in at 3,197 lbs and mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Audi e-tron Spyder can sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
