2011 Audi TT

One of the negative points to the Audi TT coupe was its rather demanding initial purchase price. And to alleviate that concern, at least in the UK market where cars are heavily demonized, Audi of UK has announced that they will be offering a new entry-level TT coupe.

The base TT will be powered by Audi’s smaller 1.8L TFSI gasoline engine, which is already available on the convertible version. That engine is good for 160hp and 184 lb-ft of torque with a 0-60 result of 7.2 seconds (7.1 for the DSG box) and onto a top end of 140 mph.

UK buyers can choose from two trim lines on the base coupe: Sport and S-Line with prices starting from £24,070, or £3,070 less than the equivalent 2.0 TFSI model.

This is going to be a certain hit for Audi. The price is lower and yet performance is still adequate. I think we can expect to see a LOT more TTs on the road.
