2012 BMW 3 Series unveiled, hits dealers Feb. 2012 – BMW ActiveHybrid 3 confirmed

As Apple fans lineup outside Apple Stores around the world to get their hands on the new iPhone 4S, BMW fans are eagerly sitting at their computers staring at pictures of the all new 2012 BMW 3-Series Sedan. The new 2012 BMW 3-Series Sedan, the 6th generation 3-Series, will be arriving in U.S. showrooms in February 2012 as 2012 model (we previously referred to it as a 2013 model).

As you can tell from the pictures, the new BMW 3-Series has been totally redesigned for the 2012 model year and we’re liking what we see. When compared to the outgoing model the new 2012 model seems to have grown up and become more elegant while keeping its sporty appeal. Inside, the 2012 BMW 3-Series also gets completely redesigned. BMW says that the interior is now more driver-focused than ever with the cockpit is angled towards the driver by seven degrees.

The 2012 BMW 328i is now powered by BMW’s 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine making 240-hp at 5,000 rpm and 260 lb-ft of torque between 1,250 and 4,800 rpm. That allows 0 to 60 mph to come in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph (155 mph with Sport Line package).

Power for the 2012 BMW 335i comes from the same N55 3.0 liter 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine making 300-hp at 5,800 rpm with a maximum torque of 300 lb-ft between 1,200 rpm and 5,000 rpm. 0 to 60 mph comes in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph (and 155 mph with Sport Line package).

Both engines are mated a to 6-speed manual as standard and are also offered with an optional 8-speed automatic. BMW EfficientDynamics technologies will also be added to the line-up with Auto Start-Stop and Brake Energy Regeneration. Also available is the new Driving Dynamics Control switch, which allows the driver to choose between Comfort, Sport, Sport + and ECO PRO mode

The 2012 BMW 3-Series will hit showrooms in February 2012 with three trim levels including Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line – of course, an M Sport Package will follow. Later in 2012, the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will also make its debut.
