General Motors officially confirmed today that the all-new 2013 Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup will be sold in the United States. The new Chevrolet Colorado was recently unveiled to the public and is launching this month in Thailand.

“The new Chevrolet Colorado is generating a lot of excitement as we begin its launch in Thailand,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global marketing and strategy for Chevrolet. “We think the design, capability and fuel efficiency of the new Colorado will make it attractive to U.S. customers.”

When will the new Colorado coming to the stateside? “Product details, timing, pricing and the production location will be announced later,” GM said. “The current-generation Colorado will be produced in Shreveport, La., through the 2012 model year.”

In Thailand, the 2013 Chevrolet Colorado  comes in 2WD and 4WD regular, extended-cab and crew cab variants with gasoline and diesel engines will be available, including new 2.5L and 2.8L turbo diesel engines. Engine specs for the U.S. will be announced at a future date.

    To think I almost bought one of these in 2006 that is until I heard they were going to drop the tried and true 4.3 and replace it with the I-5. The I-5 scared me off and I’m glad I changed my mind because it’s a POS engine. GM has had their share of problems with it!!

    If GM continues using the I-5 then it only shows that they haven’t learned anything from their mistakes of the past.

    But it’s a brand new GM! The old GM was bankrupt after receiving bail-outs from the US and Canadian governments! What could go wrong!? (All sarcasm)
