Even as production capacity remains low and could slow sales growth, Kia has no plans to build new plants and will instead focus on product quality, which is never a bad thing.
“Quantitative growth is important, but qualitative growth is also important,” said Kia’s co-CEO, Lee Sam-ung. “We plan to focus on improving product quality and our brand. Global auto demand is expected to deteriorate, but we will launch new models, strengthen local promotions and enhance brand competitiveness to cope.”
Lee said that Kia will ‘try its utmost’ to achieve its sales target of 2.5 million vehicles in 2011 despite the troubled economy.
While Lee didn’t give any predictions for 2012, stretched production capacity remains to slow down Kia from keeping up with demand.
