Hyundai Motor Group, which consists of the Hyundai and Kia brand, is working on developing a 10-speed automatic transmission for future luxury vehicles. A report by Bloomberg News quotes Park Seong Hyon, president of Hyundai Motor Group, saying that the 10-speed automatic transmissions will be offered in luxury models starting in 2014.
The transmission could find its way in to the future versions of the Hyundai Genesis and Equus sedans.
Earlier this year Hyundai launched a 8-speed transmission in the 2012 Genesis and Equus sedan. That transmission was developed in-house.
Hyundai sales through August were up 21 percent from the same period in 2010 to 440,863 units.
