Report: Talks between Maybach and Aston Martin breakdown
Things are starting to look bad for Daimler’s Maybach brand. Following reports of Maybach teaming up with Aston Martin, reports now suggest that talks of partnership between the two brands have broken down.
Reason? According to Auto Motor und Sport, talks of partnering between the two brands are on the ‘brink of extinction’ because Aston Martin is asking for too much money to build upcoming Maybach models.
Previous reports have suggested that Daimler was considering sharing engines and platforms with Aston Martin. Daimler had asked Aston build a successor to the Maybach 57/62 in exchange for hybrid technology, a 4.6 liter twin-turbo V8 and platforms for the 2012 ML-Class and S-Class.
As of yet, nothing official has been said by both automakers.
