The new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is definitely one car I’m excited to drive. Of course, I probably won’t be hitting up the Nurburgring to drive it, where the Porsche 911 recently returned a time of 7:40 seconds – that’s a whole 13 seconds faster around the famed track than the current model.
Vehicle line directed August Achleitner said that the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S with a 20mm lower sports suspension and regular tires, was now as fast around the Nurburgring as the outgoing generation’s 911 GT3.
Following a series of documented face-offs with Nissan over which car is faster – the Porsche 911 or the Nissan GT-R – Porsche seems less concerned with gunning for the fastest possible time.

“It is not so important for us; it is just for comparison (with the previous model),” Mr Achleitner told GoAuto in an interview.
