Volkswagen teams up with Berghaus to create special edition camper van

Volkswagen California Berghaus

Volkswagen has a long and rich heritage of creating cars catering to all kinds of lifestyles. From the beaches with the Dune Buggies to the open road traveling in a Minibus, Volkswagen surely makes their cars for the people. That’s why the “people’s car” teamed up with coachbuilder Berghaus to create a special edition camper van.

The van we get here in the US of A is the Chrysler-based Routan. Overseas, they offer a van called the Transporter California (the irony that it’s named after a place that can’t buy it). And that’s the van that Berghaus customized.

Some of the special features include an electronically operated roof that pops up, an onboard kitchen with a folding dinette and much more.

Driven by a 2.0L turbodiesel mated to a six-speed manual, only 80 exampled will be offered for the UK market, which from Top Gear, we all know love their camper van and caravan road trips.

Prices start at just £47,995.
