2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Motor Co. has announced that it is recalling more than 200,000 units of the Veracruz and Santa Fe due to airbag issues. The recall involves 26,548 2007-08 Hyundai Veracruz and 178,685 model year 2007-08 Santa Fe models.

Hyundai said that the clock spring assembly for the driver’s airbag may become damaged over time, causing the airbag not to deploy. Hyundai had 16 customer complaints and around 8,000 warranty claims related to the issue.

Hyundai said it isn’t aware of an accidents or injuries related to the recall.

Hyundai will first fix the vehicles that have a warning light illuminated. It will then ask other owners with functioning airbags to wait to get their vehicles repaired.
